Tour Plan:
Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Mikumi National Park
Welcome to Tanzania! Your adventure begins with a pick-up from the city center of Dar es Salaam. From there, we will journey south along the Tanzania / Zambia Highway, taking in stunning views of the countryside along the way. We will stop for a hot lunch before embarking on an exciting afternoon game drive through Mikumi National Park. Keep your eyes peeled for elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater Kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. As the sun sets, we’ll make our way to Vuma Hills Tented Camp, Tan Swiss Lodge or TANAPA Bandas for dinner and a well-deserved rest.
Day 2: Mikumi National Park – Selous Game Reserve
After breakfast, we’ll depart for the Selous Game Reserve, one of Africa’s largest game reserves, covering a vast area of 54,600 square kilometers. On the way, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch while taking in the beautiful scenery. We’ll arrive at our destination in the evening, where you can relax at the Rufiji River Camp or Zarafa Tented Camp, both situated in the heart of the reserve.
Day 3: Walking Safari in Selous Game Reserve
Today, we’ll embark on a walking safari through Selous Game Reserve, giving you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the beauty of the African wilds. Accompanied by an experienced guide and an armed ranger, we’ll set off in the morning for a two-hour trek through the bush. You’ll see a variety of animals up close, including giraffes, zebras, and elephants. After the walk, we’ll have a hot lunch before setting out on a 4×4 safari through the reserve. This is an excellent chance to snap some incredible photos of the stunning wildlife that inhabits this incredible landscape.
Day 4: Boat Safari & Game Drive in Selous Game Reserve
On day four, we’ll continue exploring Selous Game Reserve with a boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. This is the perfect opportunity to observe hippos and crocodiles in their natural habitat, as well as many other bird species. After the boat safari, we’ll enjoy a picnic lunch before heading out on another game drive, this time in search of lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, and greater kudus. We’ll return to the Rufiji River Camp or Zarafa Tented Camp for a final evening of relaxation.
Day 5: Selous Game Reserve – Dar es Salaam
After breakfast, we’ll say goodbye to Selous Game Reserve and begin our journey back to Dar es Salaam. Along the way, we’ll stop for a picnic lunch and take in the beautiful scenery one last time. We’ll arrive back in the city center in the early evening, where we’ll say our final goodbyes and wish you a safe journey home.
