Tour Plan:

Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Selous Game Reserve

Your Baest Royal Adventures tour will begin with a pick up from the center of Dar es Salaam, where you will then make your way to Selous Game Reserve with a picnic lunch. Upon arrival, you will embark on a late afternoon boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River, giving you a chance to encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. The Selous Game Reserve is a bird-watcher’s paradise, with over 350 bird species recorded here, typical of miombo woodlands, and the birdlife supported by Rufiji swamplands is of particular interest. You will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at either Rufiji River Camp or Zarafa Tented Camp (L,D).

Day 2+3: Game Viewing in Selous Game Reserve

You will spend the next two days exploring the Selous Game Reserve by 4-wheel drive vehicle with your picnic lunch. On the third day, you will start with an early morning walking safari followed by a full day game drive. The walking safari will give you a particularly intimate feel for the African wilds, and with the guidance of an armed ranger, you will have a good chance of seeing giraffe, zebra, elephant, and a variety of birds. The Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometers. The reserve is named after the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous, who was killed here during World War 1. The park is famous for its elephants, with other species commonly seen including lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras, and greater kudus. The reserve was originally set aside as a hunting area where animals are abundant but more shy than the Northern Parks. Excursions by 4×4 vehicles will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of the vast park. You will have dinner and an overnight stay at either Rufiji River Camp or Zarafa Tented Camp (B,L,D).

Day 4: Selous Game Reserve – Mikumi National Park

After an early breakfast, you will proceed to Mikumi National Park with a picnic lunch. The journey to Mikumi is one of the most amazing and truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania. The drive will take you up into the Uluguru Mountains, across rivers, past small local villages, and farms. Although tiring, this drive is possibly the most rewarding and adventurous on the Tanzania Tourist Circuit. You will enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at either Vuma Hills Tented Camp, Tan Swiss Lodge, or TANAPA Bandas (B,L,D).

Day 5: Mikumi National Park – Dar es Salaam

After breakfast, you will embark on a morning game drive in Mikumi National Park. Later in the day, you will proceed to DSM with a picnic lunch. Mikumi National Park covers 3,230 square kilometers and is a well-known park in Tanzania. The park is famous for its population of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. Predators include tree-climbing lions (which are in large numbers), leopards, wild hunting dogs, and black-backed jackals. More than 300 species of birds have been recorded here, including Eurasian migrants such as the red-billed oxpecker, marabou stork, and lilac-breasted roller.

Your Baest Royal Adventures tour will come to an end as you make your way back to Dar es Salaam.
