Day 1: Dar es Salaam – Selous Game Reserve

Experience the ultimate safari adventure with Baest Royal Adventures as we pick you up from DSM city center and proceed to Selous Game Reserve with picnic lunch. As we drive through the beautiful landscapes of Tanzania, get ready to witness the wonders of nature up close.

Upon arrival at Selous Game Reserve, get ready for a breathtaking boat safari along the mighty Rufiji River. You will discover the Rufiji River by boat and encounter hippos and crocodiles in good numbers. Some 350 bird species have been recorded in the Selous Game Reserve. These are typical of miombo woodlands, and the bird life supported by Rufiji swamplands is of particular interest.

In the evening, you will be treated to a delicious dinner and an overnight stay at Rufiji River Camp/ Zarafa Tented Camp, where you can relax and rejuvenate after a thrilling day of adventure. Day 2: Game Viewing in Selous Game Reserve

Experience the wilds of Africa like never before with Baest Royal Adventures as we take you on a game drive through the Selous Game Reserve. On this day, you will have a full day of exploration of the Reserve by 4 wheel drive vehicle with your picnic lunch.

The Selous Game Reserve is the largest in Africa, covering 54,600 square kilometers. The reserve gets its name from the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous. He was killed here during World War 1. Selous is famous for elephants. Other species commonly seen are lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbuck, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras, and greater kudus.

Excursions by 4×4 vehicles will permit you to have good photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of vast park. Our knowledgeable guides will ensure that you have a memorable experience as you witness the beauty of Africa’s wildlife up close.

Day 3: Full Day Game Viewing in Selous Game Reserve

As the sun rises, you will start your exploration of the Selous Game Reserve by 4×4 vehicle. The reserve is the largest in Africa, covering a vast area of 54,600 square kilometers. It was named after the hunter and explorer Frederick Courtney Selous, who was killed here during World War 1.

The Selous Game Reserve is home to a variety of wildlife, including elephants, lions, wild dogs, buffaloes, bushbucks, impalas, elands, baboons, zebras, and greater kudus. With its diverse landscape of woodlands, savannahs, and swamps, the reserve provides excellent photographic opportunities and the chance to explore different sections of the park.

During your full-day game drive, you will have the opportunity to see a variety of animals in their natural habitats, including predators such as lions and wild dogs, as well as herbivores like giraffes and zebras. Keep an eye out for the park’s resident birdlife, which includes over 350 species, with Rufiji swamplands being of particular interest.

In the evening, you will return to your camp for dinner and overnight at Rufiji River Camp or Zarafa Tented Camp, where you can relax and reflect on your incredible day in the Selous Game Reserve.

Day 4: Walking Safari in Selous Game Reserve and Transfer to Mikumi National Park

On your fourth day, you will have the opportunity to experience the African wilds up close and personal with a walking safari guided by an armed ranger. Starting early in the morning, you will walk for approximately 2 hours before meeting up with your driver at the reserve gate. Walking safaris offer a unique and intimate feel for the African bush, providing a good chance of spotting giraffes, zebras, elephants, and a variety of birds.

After your walking safari, you will proceed to Mikumi National Park with a picnic lunch. The journey to Mikumi is an adventure in itself, as you drive through the truly wild and untouched areas of Tanzania, crossing rivers, passing through local villages and farms, and soaking in the beauty of the Uluguru Mountains.

Upon arrival at Mikumi National Park, you will check into Vuma Hills Tented Camp, Tan Swiss Lodge, or TANAPA Bandas, where you will enjoy a delicious dinner and a comfortable night’s rest.

Day 5: Full Day Game Drive in Mikumi National Park

After breakfast, you will embark on a full-day game drive in Mikumi National Park. Covering an area of 3,230 square kilometers, Mikumi National Park is well-known for its population of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, elands, greater kudu, wildebeest, roan and sable antelope. You may even spot some of the park’s predators, including tree-climbing lions, leopards, wild hunting dogs, and black-backed jackals.

With over 300 species of birds recorded in the park, Mikumi is a bird-watcher’s paradise, with Eurasian migrants such as red-billed oxpeckers, marabou storks, and lilac-breasted rollers. During your game drive, your experienced guide will provide insight into the park’s flora and fauna, ensuring you have a memorable and educational experience.

After a day of exploring the park, you will return to your camp for a relaxing evening and a delicious dinner.

Day 6: Mikumi National Park – Dar es Salaam

On the final day of your adventure with Baest Royal Adventures, you will enjoy one last game drive in Mikumi National Park after breakfast. Keep your camera ready for any last-minute wildlife sightings as you explore the park one last time. You may spot some of the park’s famous tree-climbing lions, leopards, or wild hunting dogs, or perhaps catch a glimpse of some of the park’s 300 species of birds.

After your game drive, it’s time to say goodbye to the beautiful Mikumi National Park as you make your way back to Dar es Salaam. You will enjoy a picnic lunch on the way, and your driver will make stops along the way for photo opportunities or to stretch your legs.

As you arrive back in Dar es Salaam, you can reflect on the incredible adventure you have just experienced.
