Join us on a guided tour of Jozani Forest, a protected nature reserve and home to the endangered Zanzibar Red Colobus Monkey. Led by an experienced guide, you’ll trek through the lush forest trails, spotting a variety of wildlife and exotic plant species along the way. The highlight of the tour is the opportunity to observe the playful and acrobatic red colobus monkeys in their natural habitat. You’ll also have a chance to learn about the conservation efforts to protect these endangered primates and their unique ecosystem.

Reason: Starting early in the morning means you’ll have a better chance of seeing the monkeys and other wildlife that call the forest home, as they are more active in the cooler temperatures. You’ll also have plenty of time to explore the forest and learn about its unique ecology and conservation efforts.

Meet your guide at the entrance of your hotel or resort in Zanzibar.

08:15am – 09:30am

Drive to Jozani Forest, located in the center of the island.

09:30am – 11:30am

Trek through the forest trails, learning about the flora and fauna of the area, including the mangroves, mahogany trees, and giant ferns. Spot the red colobus monkeys and other wildlife such as Sykes monkeys, bushbabies, and a variety of birds.

11:30am – 12:00pm

Visit the forest’s natural freshwater springs and learn about the important role they play in sustaining the forest ecosystem.

12:00pm – 12:30pm

Return to the entrance of the reserve, where you’ll have the opportunity to purchase souvenirs made by local communities.

12:30pm

Return to your hotel or continue exploring Zanzibar at your leisure.
