Marangu Route.

The Marangu Route, presented by Baest Royal Advetures, offers a unique mountaineering experience with unparalleled overnight accommodations in solar-powered dormitory-style huts. These huts feature a shared dining hall, basic sanitary amenities, and toilets, with flushing systems available at lower elevations and composting toilets at higher elevations. This route is distinct in its utilization of the same trail for both ascent and descent.

Arrival and Preparation Day:

Our representative from Baest Royal Advetures will greet you upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and provide transportation to your luxurious hotel in Moshi. Our driver will be available to wait for you, even if customs clearance takes longer than expected. Upon your arrival at the hotel, we will conduct a comprehensive equipment assessment, during which any necessary rentals can be made.

Your expert guide from Baest Royal Advetures will then provide an orientation to ensure all questions and concerns are addressed. For those arriving in the evening, these activities will be scheduled for the following morning.

Day 1: Exploring the Rainforest and Maundi Crater to Mandera Hut

Commence your journey with Baest Royal Advetures after a nourishing breakfast at your hotel. Our vehicle will transport you to the Kilimanjaro National Park Gate, where you will complete the necessary registration procedures. Embark on your trek through the verdant rainforest, where you may encounter some of the region’s native monkeys. For those seeking an extra challenge, a side trip to the picturesque Maundi Crater is highly recommended. Alternatively, you can choose to relax and acclimate at your first overnight destination, the Mandara Hut.

Overnight Accommodations: Kilimanjaro Mountain Hut (2,700m / 8,858ft)

Trekking Duration:3 to 4 hours over a distance of 8 km, with 840m of elevation gain

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 2: Traversing the Heather-Clad Moorlands to Horombo Hut

Embark on a journey of exploration with Baest Royal Safaris as you traverse the picturesque moorlands, dotted with heather. On clear days, you’ll be treated to breathtaking views of Mount Kibo and Mawenzi. This day’s trek involves a sustained ascent, culminating in your arrival at the well-appointed Horombo Hut.

Overnight Lodgings: Kilimanjaro Mountain Hut (3,720m / 12,204ft)

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours over a distance of 12 km with a 1,000m elevation gain

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 3: Navigating the Alpine Tundra to Kibo Hut

Embark on a captivating expedition with Baest Royal Advetures, as you traverse the barren alpine tundra of Mount Kilimanjaro. Your expert porters will acquire water for you at the final accessible source, and as you progress, you’ll observe a decline in vegetation. Upon reaching Kibo Hut, take time to rejuvenate, as tomorrow’s early wake-up call requires energy.

Overnight Lodgings: Kilimanjaro Mountain Hut (4,703m / 15,429ft)

Trekking Duration: 5 to 6 hours, covering a distance of 9 km with a climb of 1192 meters and a descent of 2175 meters

Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

Day 4: Summit Ascent to Uhuru Peak & Descent to Horombo Hut

Undertake the ultimate mountaineering challenge with Baest Royal Advetures, embarking on a midnight expedition to reach the summit of Uhuru Peak. Equipped with warm attire and a reliable headlamp, you will navigate through treacherous scree and switchback trails to reach Gilman’s Point. As dawn breaks, you’ll find renewed energy to persist along the rim of the crater and reach the summit, the loftiest point in Africa, where you can bask in magnificent panoramic views. After a well-deserved break and nourishing lunch at Kibo Hut, initiate your descent to the Horombo Huts, where you will spend the night at a safer altitude.

Duration:6 to 8 hours of trekking, 21 km, 1000m of elevation gain

Meals: Breakfast, lunch, dinner

Day 5: Retreating from the Summit and Arrival at Moshi

Join Baest Royal Advetures for a final descent from the towering heights of Kilimanjaro, reminiscing over the triumphant moments of your journey to the summit. On your descent, you’ll traverse past the Mandara Camp and once again bask in the tropical vegetation and vibrant wildlife of the forest. Upon reaching the entrance to Kilimanjaro National Park, Baest Royal Advetures’ transportation will be available to bring you back to Moshi, where you can savor a well-deserved lunch before resting at the hotel.

Overnight Accommodations: Accommodation at Moshi (As part of your climb package)

Duration:A leisurely descent spanning 4 to 5 hours, 20 km, 2100m

Meals: Breakfast, lunch

Conclusion of Journey

Commence the final chapter of your journey with a satisfying breakfast at the hotel, included in your climbing package.

Our designated chauffeur will be readily available to escort you to Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), ensuring a seamless and stress-free transfer. Should you have booked a subsequent safari excursion, we will typically depart shortly after breakfast. Your hotel stay concludes at 10:00 AM, however, in the event of a later flight departure,

Baest Royal Advetures will make every effort to secure a late checkout or arrange a day room at your request.

The Trekking Price Includes:

  • Accommodation in Moshi one night before and one night after the trek (B&B plan) check out time is 10:00 hrs (late check out charge is $65).
  • Return Airport Transfers -To and from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO).
  • Private toilet tent(s) — 1 tent for every 7 climbers (not used on Marangu Route).
  • All government fees and Taxes for the National park.
  • All meals and water while on the mountain.
  • All salaries for guides, assistant guides, chef, porters.
  • Return Transport to and from the park gate.
  • Oxygen for altitude sickness emergencies.
  • All camping equipment (tents, tables, chairs, cooking equipment, dining tent, mattress… everything but your sleeping bag.)

The Trekking Price does not Include:
