Arrival and Preparation Day:
Our representative from Baest Royal Safaris will greet you upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and provide transportation to your luxurious hotel in Moshi. Our driver will be available to wait for you, even if customs clearance takes longer than expected. Upon your arrival at the hotel, we will conduct a comprehensive equipment assessment, during which any necessary rentals can be made.
Your expert guide from Baest Royal Safaris will then provide an orientation to ensure all questions and concerns are addressed. For those arriving in the evening, these activities will be scheduled for the following morning.

Day 1: Arrive at the Umbwe Gate and start your climb

Today, you’ll embark on a journey through the heart of the African wilderness on the Umbwe Ridge. As you hike, the lush, green forest will slowly give way to rocky terrain, dotted with sparse trees and an abundance of natural beauty.
Climbing steadily up the Umbwe Ridge will test your limits and push you to new heights. But the hard work will pay off as you reach the top and are greeted with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
As you approach the Barranco Valley, the trail will level out and you’ll have the chance to catch your breath and take in the stunning surroundings. Here, you’ll join other adventurous hikers who are ascending the Machame Route, sharing stories and making new friends along the way.
Barranco Camp is the perfect place to relax and recharge after a long day of hiking. Surrounded by stunning beauty, you’ll enjoy a well-deserved rest and prepare for the next exciting chapter of your journey.

Day 3: Overcoming the Barranco Wall and Exploring the Karanga Valley
Today, you’ll tackle one of the major challenges of the Umbwe Route – the infamous Barranco Wall. This steep cliff climb of just over 250 meters will test your strength and determination, but the views from the top are absolutely worth it.
In addition to being a crucial day for acclimatization, the climb up the Barranco Wall will also give you a sense of accomplishment and set you up for the rest of the journey.
After scaling the wall, you’ll continue into the serene and picturesque Karanga Valley. The trail will have one final steep stretch, but the destination is well worth it – Karanga Camp. Here, you’ll have the chance to rest, recharge, and enjoy the beauty of the valley

Trekking Duration: 3 to 4 hours over a distance of 5 km with a 50m elevation gain

Day 4: Conquering the South Circuit and Reaching Barafu Camp
Today is a big day as you complete the Southern Circuit, taking in breathtaking views of Uhuru Peak from nearly every angle. The trail will take you through the barren alpine desert, offering a unique and striking landscape.
As you make your way to Barafu Camp, you’ll have the chance to reflect on your journey thus far and prepare for the final ascent to the summit. Dinner and bedtime will come early, as you’ll need to be well-rested for your midnight wake-up call.

Day 5: Reaching the Summit of Kilimanjaro and Descend to Mweka Camp
Today is the day you’ve been preparing for – the summit of Kilimanjaro. Your trek will begin in the middle of the night to give you enough time to reach the top and return to safer altitudes.
The journey will take you through challenging terrain, passing between Rebmann and Ratzel glaciers, and then on to the steep and strenuous climb to Stella Point. The wind, cold, and steep ascent will be worth it when you reach Stella Point and witness a magnificent sunrise.
Another hour of hiking through the snow will take you to the summit of Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. You’ll have a few moments to celebrate your achievement and take in the breathtaking views.
The day is far from over, as you’ll return to Barafu for lunch and then continue on to Mweka Camp for the night. This final leg of the journey will be a chance to reflect on your accomplishment and rest after a long and rewarding day.

Day 6: The Grand Finale and the Journey Home
Your Kilimanjaro journey is coming to a close, but not before one last adventure through the lush forest to Mweka Gate. This final stretch will give you a chance to bask in the memories you’ve made over the past few days and take in the beauty of the forest one last time.
Upon arrival at Mweka Gate, you’ll enjoy a delicious farewell meal before your driver returns you to Moshi. This day is the perfect opportunity to reflect on your incredible journey and to start looking forward to sharing your story with loved ones back home.
